Problem: Maybe you’re an architect and need to show the same 3-D design to five clients in three cities, but your laptop can’t handle the CAD software like your desktop back home. Or, maybe you’re a real estate agent who needs instant access to multiple properties from your PDA. Many small businesses are finding that they need to tap into their home or office computers to retrieve files or access programs that are too large to save to disc.
Solutions: A number of programs and services are catering to this growing market. Two of the top contenders are GoToMyPC and LogMeIn.
- GoToMyPC released a new version in March 2006, improving on what many already considered a

strong remote access program, adding remote printing, drag-and-drop file transfer and multi-monitor support. The service will cost your business $19.95 per month following your free 90-day trial.
- LogMeIn the best free remote access program, with most of the tools available on GoToMyPC. If
you just must have all the extra bells and whistles, LogMeIn Pro’s monthly rate is only $12.95.
- FolderShare, another option, is free too. Customer testimonials on FolderShare’s site rave about the service. You may never need a USB flash drive again.
